One of the best things about September is that most of our favorite television shows come back with new episodes. Finally, those cliffhangers will be resolved and we can get back to the romances, betrayals, drama and laughter that is television. On September 20th, the 67th Primetime Emmy Awards will air with all the celebrities, red carpets, designer dresses and suspense that we love (and the acceptance speeches we have to tolerate).

If you love watching television as much as I do, you’re probably looking forward to the Emmy Awards. Will your favorite actor or actress finally win this year? Does network television stand a chance against cable shows? Make the night extra-fun by holding an Emmy viewing party with your friends. Here are some tips on how to throw an award-worthy vegan Emmys party.

1. Set the Theme

It’s always fun to embrace the theme of the party and make it extra-special. Send invitations or evites that look like the Emmy envelopes containing the winners’ names. Roll out a red carpet in the hallway or walkway leading to your front door so your guests feel like celebrities. Decorate your house with gold stars, cut-out Emmy awards or pictures of your favorite actors. If you want to really make the extra effort, have your guests come dressed as their favorite characters or dress formally as if they were invited to the actual awards show. Have a playlist of TV soundtracks and theme songs, old and new, to play in the background.

2. Rock the Vote

Predicting the winners is part of the fun of watching awards shows. Make ballots with all the award categories and lists of nominees. Pass them out as your guests arrive and have them vote before the awards begin. Have prizes for the guests who get the most predictions right such as a DVD of the last season of a favorite show.

3. Break Out the Bubbly

The Emmy Awards are a celebration so there needs to be something bubbly to toast with. Serve this Healthy, Alcohol-Free Champagne in flutes to keep that formal celebratory feel going. Serve a signature drink and name it after a character or show (True Blood cocktail, anyone?). Try any of these 12 Fun and Refreshing Beverages and be sure to have plenty of water as well.

4. TV Munchies

Watching TV always requires munchies and fun snacks. Channel your inner gladiator and serve big bowls of popcorn.
