At this time of year there’s one activity that everyone seems to want to do: Apple picking! And for good reason. A delightfully seasonal activity, it’s fun, festive, and leaves you with an abundance of delicious apples. You may even have way more than you know what to do with, like we usually do – you get caught up in the spirit and end up with a kitchen full of this fall fruit. But don’t worry, our amazing bloggers can help! They’ve got lots of tips and tricks to help you find the best way to use up your leftover apples. All of these recipes can be found on our Food Monster App!

1. Bake Away!

There’s nothing as amazing as baking up a lovely apple treat at this time of year. The sweet smell, the amazing baked good you’ll have afterwords, and the fun of baking make this a perfect activity for a chilly and cozy afternoon. Luckily, you have an excuse to spend some time whipping up delicious treats when you have so many apples to spare! Where to even start? Well, how could you resist these Glazed Cinnamon Apple Fritters from Tori Cooper?

Julie Zimmer can show you how to make some lovely and soft Apple Muffins – a fall staple! For a contrast in texture (because although warm, soft desserts are amazing, baking can be so much more), use your oven to make some Baked Cinnamon Apple Chips from Nicole Dunai. You could also go for a classic baked good: cookies! We recommend Tara Binder‘s Apple Spice Cookies. For a dish that the whole family can dig into together, Heather Poire has the answer: Cinnamon Apple Pecan Pull Apart Bread.

2. Spreads and Sauces

When you need something to do with apples, applesauce is a great solution – you can use up a lot of apples all at once, and you have a delicious snack at the end. See for yourself with our go-to recipe for Homemade Applesauce from Sondi Bruner: Blogger, The Copycat Cook! However, applesauce is not the only apple-based sauce or spread that you can make at home. Break out your slow cooker and combine apples with another awesome fall fruit and make this Slow Cooker Apple Date Butter from Jennifer Strohmeyer.

Apples and nut butter is an irresistible combination (seriously, if you haven’t tried it, it will change your snack game forever), so how could you resist making your own Apple Cinnamon Walnut Butter from Nora Schlesinger! For a spiced delight, Rachel Clarke‘s Spicy Plum and Apple Chutney is definitely something you don’t want to miss. And if you really love something spicy, then this Green Apple and Jalapeño Sauce from Smith and Daughters: A Cookbook (That Happens To Be Vegan) is definitely for you!

3. Savory Solutions

Sweet things aren’t the only amazing concoctions you can use your apples for! Apples shine in savory dishes as well, and their versatility is part of what makes them so wonderful and a key part of fall cuisine. Pair them with other savory stars, like potato, brussels sprouts, butternut squash, onion, and more, and just watch how they fit in everywhere. Start with these Savory Apple and Potato Pancakes from Maya Sozer!

It may surprise you to see how wonderful apples are in one of the most comforting dishes of all time: soup! Try out this recipe for Apple, Parsnip, and Fennel Soup With Crispy Sage Brussels Sprouts from Claire Ragozzino, or this one for Onion Soup with Apple from Florian Nouh! Please your party guests (apple party, anyone?) with these delightful little Rustic Tartlets With Caramelized Onions, Apple, and Butternut Squash from Dora Daily. As we head ever closer towards thanksgiving, test out your stuffing recipe or find an even better one with Diane Smith‘s Butternut Squash, Brussels Sprouts, and Apple Stuffing.

4. Pie Please!

Arguably the very best part of fall – it’s pie season! Whether you’re putting together a party dessert or just want to bake for yourself, it’s pretty hard to beat apple pie. Sometimes you just want to go classic, like with The Perfect Apple Pie from Gabrielle St. Claire. Sometimes you just want dessert all to yourself, and we won’t judge: Danielle Dewar has your back with a Personal-Sized Apple Pie.

To keep all the magic in the apple itself, you’ve got to try Apple Pie Stuffed Apples from Alexa Peduzzi! You could combine the apple with another fall fruit to double the goodness with Jesse Lane Lee‘s Pear Apple Pie, or combine it with another spectacular dessert with Lee Khatchadourian-Reese‘s Cinnamon Roll Apple Pie. The possibilities are endless!
