A shocking video has gone viral of a girl taunting a monkey in a cage at a zoo before the monkey grabbed her by her hair.

In the video, the girl is standing near a cage with a monkey in it. The girl can be seen swatting at the monkey and taunting the poor prisoner while the animal is stuck inside the small cage. As the girl continues to swat, the monkey gets ahold of the girl’s hair and pulls it while her family is screaming and laughing.

The girl finally gets free from the monkey’s grip and moves to the other side of the cage, where the monkey gets a hold of her hair again. The family continues to laugh as one male hits the monkey with a shirt.

“That’s what happens when you tease an animal,” one Reddit user pointed out.

“She was harassing a monkey that has 10x her strength,” another said.

“Or maybe don’t imprison animals and stress them out, then expect them to play nice,” one user added.

Zoos are harmful to wildlife and do not help with conservation efforts, as they most commonly publicize. Animals are kept in small habitats and often suffer emotional distress. The simplest thing you can do to help put a stop to tourist attractions that exploit animals is by never visiting or supporting them. Public opinion has great power to ignite change, so make sure you share this with your network as a reminder of why animals are not ours to be used for entertainment!
