Ohagi the rescue kitty‘s guardian Mako Mako is teasing her with a fuzzball, and judging by the cat’s intense stare, she’s taking the game a little too seriously.
… But then she breaks the ice with a goofy butt-waggle dance before pouncing at the toy.
It looks like Ohagi is doing well nearly two years after her rescue. Mako Mako found her as a tiny, week-old kitten abandoned next to a shed. Though he’d never raised a kitten before, he committed to bottle-feeding her around the clock, played with her and gave her a comfortable little bed of her own. Luckily, his long-haired chihuahua warmed up to the new roommate right away. You can see the two together in this video.
If you’re interested in the history behind the cuteness, this type of waggle has its roots in large wild cats like tigers and lions, who shake their back ends to grind the ground and brace themselves before pouncing. For domestic cats, the dance helps them attain balance.
