Plant-based eating is the way of the future. Not only do one in ten Millennials now identify as vegan and/or vegetarian, but 40 percent of Americans choose to leave meat off their plates, and six percent of Americans identify as plant-based eaters. Plant-based food is not just a fad; it’s here to stay.

We are always supportive of people who publicly announce their decision to try plant-based eating, and even more so when they share their experiences on social media. In fact, we happily provide guides to plant-based nutrition, give out tips on how to make vegan eating budget-friendly, and recommend the Food Monster App, which provides over 8,000 delicious plant-based, allergy-friendly recipes to get you inspired in the kitchen.

So when we saw Kylie Jenner announced on her Snapchat that she’s “trying this whole vegan thing,” we felt obligated to reach out and provide some resources.

Try This ‘Whole Vegan Thing’ Out The Right Way

First of all, welcome to plant-based eating, fam! We’re happy to have you. Not only is plant-based eating a sustainable choice, it’s also the delicious future of food. We want to make sure that you and everyone learning about plant-based eating from you knows that while vegan tacos are delicious, there is so much more to explore, discover, and share.

“The Jenner girls are in a great position to serve as positive influences for today’s youth,” says One Green Planet co-founder, Preeta Sinha. “Every decision they make, as it relates to conscious and sustainable choices can impact an entire generation’s habits and behaviors. I am glad to see Kylie skip the meat and dairy, it’s a step in the right direction.”

For instance, we know that you proclaimed your love of teriyaki sliders in the past. Why not begin exploring the infinite amount of plant-based sliders and burgers that are out there to enjoy? Start off by trying these vegan Hoppin’ John Sliders With Smoky Lemon Aioli Sauce and Sautéed Greens. Plant-based cheese can be just as gooey and satisfying as the classic stuff!

For something summery to enjoy with friends..these BBQ Chickpea Sliders With Pineapple Slaw are seasonal and bursting with smoky, BBQ goodness.

We’d also be remiss if we didn’t address the above tacos further. There are so many sublime vegan taco recipes, that you could have a different flavor of taco for every day of the work week and never get bored.

Start your week off right by whipping up some gluten-free Teriyaki Cauliflower Tacos With Pineapple Salsa on Monday, and then ease on into Tuesday with some Beet Tacos With Mung Beans With Blackened Tofu, Radish Slaw, and Crispy Corn. Celebrate hump day with these colorful and gluten-free Tandoori Tofu Scramble Tacos, and then actually enjoy your Thursday with these Smoky Adobo Lentil Tacos.

Finally, just lean into the plant-based goodness and indulge in this gluten-free Layered Fiesta Taco Bowl. You’ll be glad you did.

And Kylie, here are all the other resources you’ll need to continue your plant-based journey easily :)

There are so many fantastic plant-based cheeses out there, we almost feel like we don’t have enough time to try and savor them all. These American Cheese Slices are especially familiar and comforting, and once you get the hang of plant-based cheese, you’ll want to play around with more involved recipes, like this gluten-free Cashew Herb Cheese.

However, eating plant-based means you have the opportunity to open yourself up to new interpretations of old foods. Pizzas don’t need cheese to make them satisfying and drool-worthy. Just check out this gluten-free Sweet and Spicy Golden Chia Pizza if you need proof.

We have resources to make finding plant-based substitutes for old standbys a cinch. Here’s a guide to vegan meats and substitutes; if you want veggie burgers that won’t fall apart, we have that covered too. We’ve found hacks to make sure your plant-based meals always burst with flavor, tricks to make meatless food taste meaty, an amazing guide on how to make cheesy sauces out of vegetables, and once you’ve mastered those, you can move on to learning about classic and delicious vegan sauces at large.

If you’re worried that you’ll miss meat, or that you won’t be in the mood to cook for yourself one night, it’s okay! Plenty of chains like Johnny Rockets, Veggie Grill, Epic Burger, HopDoddy, and Bareburger all offer plant-based burgers.

If you’re feeling inspired by the as-of-yet untapped world of fine plant-based cuisine — we don’t blame you! There’s plenty more to discover.
