Toyota Encourages Consumers to Replace Engines With Sustainable Options Instead of Buying New Car

Toyota is pushing for people to replace the engine of cars, not the entire car, in an effort to encourage a sustainable shift. “I don’t want to leave any car lover behind,” Chief Executive Akio Toyoda said at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

Toyota is suggesting that consumers simply replace the engine and inner workings of cars that are already on the road with cleaner technology like fuel cells and electric motors. Toyota said that while it will take a long time for all cars to become zero emission, something we can do quickly is to turn old cars green by replacing engines and other parts.

Recently, Toyota announced a new hydrogen combustion engine. The Japanese automaker has made it clear that they do not think that the pure electric approach is better. Instead, they believe in pursuing multiple different avenues and plans, including hybrids, BEVs, and hydrogen cars.
