Starting on October 11, Burger King restaurants in Des Moines, Iowa; Boston, Massachusetts; and Miami, Florida will serve Impossible nuggets.
Burger King is the first major fast-food place to test out the new nuggets! Impossible Foods released them earlier this year in some restaurants and grocery stores.
Unfortunately, Burger King has stated that the nuggets will be prepared in oil that is also used for meat and cheese products. Thus, these may not be a suitable option for strict vegans. However, even if this new menu item is not suitable for all vegans, it is still a step in the right direction. It gives consumers a glimpse into the world of meatless options. Hopefully, these new plant-based nuggets will help flexitarians to consume less meat and convince meat lovers to try out a kinder option when it comes to their food.
Anytime a leading restaurant or fast-food chain begins to offer plant-based options is a reason to celebrate. It helps plant-based foods become more well-known and can help show people who still consume animal products that plant-based alternatives are super delicious!
