Planta, a vegan eatery located in Toronto, is expanding to the United States! Tourists and locals in Miami will be graced with this new plant-based restaurant, and we are getting ready to make our reservation. David Grutman, a Miami hospitality entrepreneur who partnered with the restaurant believes that plant-based eating is more than just a trend.
“It’s the way the world is moving. People really care about where ingredients are coming from. I know I do,” he told Miami Times.
Grutman, who avoids dairy and egg products, says Planta will attract vegans and omnivores alike and will incorporate a mix of food, music, and atmosphere for a welcoming vibe. “I’m creating a space that has great mixology, great music, and great food. We want people to have an experience when they’re going to lunch or dinner. I think you’re going to get that here,” he added.
Although the menu isn’t set, the options will be similar to those offered at the Canadian location such as a plant-based burger, crab cakes, cauliflower tots, coconut ceviche, carrot dogs and more! There will even be a vegetable sushi bar, as well as cold pressed juices available. The restaurant is expected to make its debut in early 2018 at 850 Commerce St., Miami Beach.
David Lee, the head chef, is also hosting a dinner with vegan chef, Chloe Coscarelli, in order to officially introduce Planta to the South Beach area. The dinner will be part of the lineup of events happening at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. This event is taking place on February 22nd, 2018 and costs $200 per ticket.
