The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a dead cat behind a property in the San Sebastian community of Weston. The cat that was found was named Misu, and the Sherrif’s office said the poor cat had been cruelly cut in half. According to the incident report, the cat was found to be cut clean down the middle.
“The cut is not consistent with that of animal bites/attacks and appeared to be intentional. There was no blood on the cat or in the grass surrounding the cat. The back half of the cat was not present in the photograph.”
Misu’s owners told the police that they haven’t had any issues with neighbors or seen anyone suspicious in the neighborhood. However, a community nearby has reported five similar cat deaths, but because the remains were not turned in to the police, they say it’s impossible to know the exact cause of death.
Many residents have seen coyotes nearby and believe that they could be responsible. However, police are adamant that the cut is inconsistent with an animal attack or bite.
Anyone with information should contact BSO at 954-321-4231 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477). We hope that they can find whoever is doing these cruel acts to these poor families’ cats.
