European taxpayers are still pouring billions into factory farming. A recent study found the European Union gave meat and dairy producers about €39 billion in subsidies in 2020 alone. These payments prop up an industry widely linked to animal suffering, environmental harm, and growing public health concerns. The same report shows subsidies for beef and lamb producers were between 580 and 554 times higher than funding for plant based proteins like legumes, nuts, and seeds.
