Meghan Markle recently announced the passing of her cherished beagle, Guy. The Duchess of Sussex shared memories on Instagram, reflecting on their bond and the pivotal moments they shared.
In her post, Meghan recounted Guy’s remarkable rescue story. “In 2015, I adopted a beagle from a dog rescue in Canada,” she wrote. “He had been at a kill shelter in Kentucky and given a few days to live. I swooped him up….and fell in love.” His small size earned him the nickname “the little guy,” which inspired his name. “And he was the best guy any girl could have asked for,” Meghan added.
Guy remained a wonderful companion through many milestones in Meghan’s life. From her time writing for her lifestyle blog Tig to her role on Suits, and eventually, her engagement and marriage to Prince Harry, Guy was by her side.
Meghan also shared the story of Guy’s resilience after a life-threatening accident before her move to the UK. “He endured a terrible accident… which had him undergoing surgeries for several months and unable to leave the clinic,” she revealed. Despite dire predictions, Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick believed in Guy’s recovery. Meghan recalled how she and Prince Harry visited him late at night as he healed in Surrey.
The Duchess also revealed that Guy will feature in her upcoming Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, premiering January 15. “I hope you’ll come to understand why I am so devastated by his loss. I think you may fall a little bit in love too,” she wrote.
