Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, shared photos of a secret visit she made to an animal rights charity in London. Meghan and her husband Prince Harry made headlines in early January when they announced they would be stepping back as full time members of the royal family.

Meghan visited Mayhew, an animal rights charity in north London. The charity provides rescue and care for local animals while also providing services for animals overseas. According to their website, the center rescues animal on a daily basis, works to “improve international welfare abroad,” and offers low-cost services at their Veterinary clinic.

In a caption posted to Sussex Instagram account, details of the visit were disclosed, “The Duchess of Sussex, having been proud patron of Mayhew since January 2019 and long understanding the connection between animal and community welfare, applauds the people at Mayhew for the vital work that they do every day. From cats and dogs who have found new homes to animal welfare cases handled in the community, Mayhew believes in the power of togetherness and the special bond between humans and animals.”
