He spoke in favor of a government review in the UK that would research how economies are affected by the environment. The review was conducted by economist Partha Dasgupta. In a discussion with the Royal Society, Prince Charles shared, “We have a duty of care for this planet that is absolute. “We know day by day, we are rapidly destroying the fabric of the natural world for ourselves, for our children and grandchildren, and testing this planet to disruption.”
He spoke to the participants, “It is sheer madness to continue on this path. Sir Partha Dasgupta’s seminal review is a call to action that we must heed, for ladies and gentlemen, it falls on our watch and we must not fail.”
Prince Charles recently announced his creation, Terra Carta, to encourage companies to develop sustainable practices. The project is part of his Sustainable Markets Initiative, which also includes roundtables and task forces for a “sustainable industry transition and rapid decarbonization ahead of 2050.”
Prince Charles has four grandchildren, Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and Prince Louis, 2 and Archie, 1.
