Every year, dogs are left out in the cold over winter. Some don’t survive the harsh temperatures, and those that do often face lives full of neglect and isolation.
It’s a sad reality that many dogs face, but activists and animal lovers are working together to help dogs in need and raise the standard of care for pets. One of those animal lovers just so happens to be the football linebacker for the New England Patriots, Matt Judon.
In a collaboration with PETA, Judon encourages people to bring their pets inside over winter. Too many dogs are left tied in a yard, out of sight, and left to freeze all alone.
In a short video addressing New England residents, Judon says, “New England winters are no joke. They can be deadly for dogs left outside in below freezing temperatures.”
He went on to say, “My dogs are part of my family, and I would never leave my family outside. So bring your dogs inside and show them the love and respect that they show you.”
It’s a message he specifically had for New Englanders, but it can be applied to just about anywhere. When we welcome a pet into the family, it’s our responsibility to care for them and meet their needs, physically and emotionally.

People around the world, including in Afghanistan, Kabul, and South Korea among other countries, are speaking up for animals in need and being the voice for the voiceless.
To reduce the number of suffering dogs on the streets and dogs who are euthanized, it’s important to adopt instead of shop for a dog. Familiarize yourself with tips for adopting so you’re well prepared and read about five things you can do to help stop puppy mills.
