Pit Bull Named ‘Drools’ Gets Adopted After Almost Two Years in Shelter

This dog has something to be thankful for. Drools, a male pit bull/boxer mix was adopted after almost two years in a Colorado animal shelter.

Drools spent 729 days at the Conour Animal Shelter in Monte Vista and found his forever home in November. Kacey Widetich, the founder and executive director of Relay For Rescue had been living at the shelter with Drools and was thrilled to help him find a family. “I feel like I won the lottery,” the new owner told local station  NewsChannel 13.

The shelter shared the amazing news on Facebook:

Widetich had moved into the shelter to help keep Drools company. “These remote shelters are so understaffed and just don’t have the capacity to adequately market all these sweet pups,” she told CBS Denver. “If my spending the night in the shelter for a few nights helps even one dog get adopted, I will have done my job. But I’m not stopping at just one — they ALL deserve a second chance at happily ever after.”
