When Hope For Paws received an email about an injured chameleon that was abandoned at an animal shelter, team member JoAnn Wiltz rushed out to rescue the poor reptile.

When JoAnn first rescued the chameleon, Bob was hiding in a cardboard box and had an injured tail. Although the chameleon seemed very afraid, JoAnn was able to gently pick him up out of the box and bring him to the vet to be examined. The vet explained that veiled chameleons are not native to California, and they discovered that Bob had a puncture wound that was causing the tip of his tail to die. The veterinarian mentioned that he was a candidate for amputation. Despite his injury, the video shows Bob’s happy and adventurous personality and how he continues to explore and enjoy life!
