Syracuse, which is home to two popular vegan restaurants, Strong Hearts, and Strong Hearts on the Hill, will be gaining a third when the new plant-based cafe, Brewed Awakening, makes its debut this Friday. With plant-based breakfast sandwiches and so many other vegan options to choose from, this cafe seems to be doing it right.

A unique aspect about this cafe is their coffee will be on tap. Four types of cold brews and hot brews will be offered. Coffee lovers can enjoy coffees from Hoosick Falls and Buffalo, as well as a coffee called Buck’s, which is a hand-roasted brew made over a fire.

This unique cafe was created by Jarred Vryhof and Jeffery Buck, whose vision it was to serve coffee on tap. Instead of using local coffees, Brewed Awakening will use coffees that are found all over New York. Buck will also roast some of the coffees for the cafe, and Vryhof, who has worked for years at Funk N’ Waffles, will run the kitchen.
The cafe will be located in North Syracuse, tucked away in a little house at 207 Catawaba Street. As of now, the hours will be 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM, and 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, everyday of the week.

I\’m not quite sure what to feel about coffee on tap. I assume they must taste good – or there would be no point trying the idea. But, what is the taste difference between this approach and making coffee the regular way?
