Animal agriculture is a large contributor to greenhouse gas emissions. This is especially true for the beef industry given that, more than any other livestock, cows produce great amounts of methane and require more land and water. Recently, Goldsmiths, University of London made the eco-conscious decision to ban beef and people are currently urging the University of California to do the same because of the impact it could have on the planet.
For a long time now, environmental organizations have been warning everyone to go plant-based to fight climate change. Finally, it appears that companies and institutions are listening. Popular salad chain, Just Salad is making a similar decision and completely ditching beef!
Just Salad is known for their very eco-friendly reusable salad bowls which have revolutionized the way people buy and eat salads, so they are the perfect restaurant chain to make such environmental progress. Now, in order to further their efforts to combat climate change, they will be swapping all the beef in their stores out for Beyond Meat — another great choice.
Beyond Meat’s plant-based meat alternatives are taking the world by storm. Their burgers, sausages, and meatballs have all made their way into many restaurants and fast food chains including Dunkin’, Subway, KFC, Del Taco, Carl’s Jr., and more! It only makes sense that their plant-based ‘meat’ be available at a salad chain like Just Salad.
As of September 12th, the Beyond Meat Meatballs are available at Just Salad locations as an add-on to any salad or warm bowl. And in even bigger news, Just Salad has officially announced in interviews with Food & Wine and Green Matters that they envision having a completely meatless menu in the next five years!
