This Dog Was Left Abandoned for Six Years in Mexico Before Getting a Second Chance at Life

This abandoned dog spent six whole years alone on a property in Mexico and only survived thanks to the neighbors who fed him and played fetch with him through the fence.

The black lab finally got a second chance at a loving family when @keepingfinn saved Morgan and brought him back to San Diego to hopefully get adopted by a loving family. @keepingfinn posted a video on TikTok of the rescue that has now racked up over 206,000 views.

Henry of @keepingfinn told Newsweek that he found out about Morgan through social media.

“His story is what people mean when they say ‘we don’t deserve dogs.’ Morgan was completely failed and abandoned by humans and yet here he is six years later, just wanting to hang out with you and play a game of fetch.”When we showed up, he was wagging his tail with a water bottle in his mouth that he would toss through the fence, encouraging us to throw it for him.

“After being alone for six years, his spirit and trust in humans somehow were never broken. He is after all still a black Labrador.”

The neighbors helped him keep alive by feeding him and playing fetch with him through the fence.

“His front teeth were completely shaved down to his gums from eating food off the concrete driveway for so long,” Henry told Newsweek.

They estimate that Morgan is 12 years old, and despite his trauma and being abandoned, he still was able to show love and wanted attention from everyone.

While we cannot change the horrific treatment that many animals have already endured in the past, we can give animals a voice and hold perpetrators accountable for crimes in the present and the future. Many animal abusers are not held accountable by the law, which feeds into this horrific cycle of abuse. You can sign this petition to demand all states make all animal abuse a felony.
