Petition: Demand a Hate Crime Investigation into the Killing of Jonathan Joss

Actor Jonathan Joss—beloved for roles in Parks and Recreation and King of the Hill—was shot and killed on June 1, 2025, in San Antonio. His husband alleges the shooter, a neighbor, was yelling homophobic slurs before firing. Joss died shielding his partner.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. According to Joss’ husband, the couple faced years of alleged homophobic harassment. Their home mysteriously burned down earlier this year, killing their dogs. On the day of the shooting, the skull of one of their dogs was allegedly displayed at the property—just before the attack.

The shooter, Sigfredo Alvarez Cejam, is in custody and has confessed. But this must go beyond an arrest. We must urge the San Antonio Police to treat this as the hate crime it very likely is. LGBTQ+ and Native American lives matter. Sign the petition now. Demand justice for Jonathan Joss.
