Tech mogul Elon Musk continues to assist governments with necessary coronavirus equipment. After bringing ventilators to California, Musk pledged on March 25 to open a New York factory to make additional ventilators.

According to Tech Crunch and a series of statements made over Twitter, Musk will convert a factory in Buffalo, New York to produce ventilators. Ventilators are crucial pieces of equipment to treat COVID-19 because the virus causes breathing problems.

Musk previously reported that the company would be using its California factory to make ventilators. Musk is partnering with companies, including Medtronic, to switch production to ventilators. The United States currently has about 160,000 ventilators. Musk didn’t provide additional details or timeline, just that the company would “do anything in our power to help the citizens of New York.”

Governor Andrew Cuomo put out a call for more ventilators during his March 26 daily briefing. New York had 30,811 confirmed cases on March 25.
