Following an animal hoarding investigation, 31 cats were rescued from a rented townhouse in Springfield, Oregon. Greenhill Humane Society, in partnership with Springfield Animal Control, took in the cats over a nine-day period, ensuring they received the care they needed.
Upon arrival, the cats were malnourished, covered in dirt, and infested with fleas. Greenhill staff provided medical treatment, vaccinations, parasite control, and a nutritious diet. “All of these cats came in with a range of health issues, with the more serious conditions resulting from malnutrition,” said Ashley Lalan, Greenhill’s feline program manager. “We are working to provide them with the care and treatment they need.”
Many of the rescued cats have already found new homes. So far, nine have been adopted, five are on hold for potential adopters, and eight more are currently available. The remaining cats will be ready for adoption in the coming weeks. Additionally, six of the cats have been designated as barn cats, meaning they prefer minimal human interaction but are excellent for rodent control.
Greenhill encourages those interested in adopting to visit their website or stop by the shelter between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Adopters who take home two cats together will receive a $20 discount per adoption.
