The deadly tornado in Mayfield, Kentucky, took a huge toll on not only the people living there but also on the animals too. Luckily, The Humane Society of the United States responded to the animals in need who were either injured, lost, or left behind. They provided critical supplies, shelter Support, and much-needed funding to help the community of Mayfield begin rebuilding and recovering from the tragic effects of the tornado.
Many people lost their homes due to the effects of the tornado and were sadly no longer in the position to properly look after their beloved pets. They were without access to pet food and proper shelter and were, unfortunately, in extremely difficult situations.
HSUS came to the rescue to locate and transport scared animals to a safer temporary home for the time being. Many cats in the area were wandering around alone, in need of human attention and care, but also seemed quite shaken and nervous from the events that just took place.
Kitty Block, President/CEO of The Humane Society of the United States said “Pets are truly members of the family, and we are doing all we can to ensure these precious individuals get home safely.”
