PETA is calling for the British public to boycott the reality TV show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here. The show features bushtucker trials with several types of animals, including insects, reptiles, and rodents.

The animals are all incredibly scared and uncared for. The challenges involve them being killed in horrific ways. The show no longer shows live animals being eaten, but they are still very much abused.

Last year, the series received around 1,000 complaints in relation to animal welfare, which is why the show decided to remove live animal eating challenges. However, the new series is still promoting animal cruelty. Activists have made the point that it would have been banned long ago if it showed furry animals like cats and dogs.

Jennifer White, media and communications manager for Peta UK, said, “Animals are terrified and abused and killed for these challenges, and it’s all for a cheap laugh. Animals are being treated in these incredibly horrific ways, all to try and up their TV ratings.”

PETA is encouraging people to not only boycott the show entirely but to send in complaints about how the animals are being treated in it. They hope that public pressure will get the show canceled or at least result in the removal of animals from the challenges.
