Sadie, a six-year-old, newly adopted German Shepherd is a hero! The New Jersey rescue pup, recently adopted from the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, protected her owner during a stroke, according to the shelter.

The shelter shared on Facebook that after Sadie’s owner collapsed during a stroke, she stayed at his side, licked his face and dragged him across the room to his phone so he could call for help!

Brian is currently recovering at a rehab center, but he remains loyal to Sadie. “They FaceTime every night and are counting down the days until they can reunite,” according to the shelter.

The shelter shared a little bit about Sadie after the incident. “She was confused and seemingly lost upon rescue, having suddenly lost the only family that she knew,” the shelter said. “Sadie is a loyal dog, but nervous and protective with new people, making her a more difficult placement.”

The shelter noted, “As is common to her breed, she is loyal and loving with her chosen people.” We couldn’t agree more!
