5 of the Most Amazing Shelter Dog Makeovers!

Seeing the transformation of anyone is amazing — but there is nothing more special than watching a shelter dog blossom from a makeover. In many instances, dogs enter shelters from bad situations, whether it be an abusive household or a life on the streets.  But, with loving care and attention, even these dogs can turn into playful, happy beings. Foster parents, adoptive parents, and shelter staff all play an important role in the transformation of these pups. Check out the videos below to see some of our favorite shelter dog makeovers!

1. Charlie

Charlie was admitted to an LA area shelter after being found on the side of the road. His hair was incredibly tangled and covered with painful burrs. Unfortunately, the shelter was a high-kill one. This meant that if Charlie did not get adopted within a week, he would be euthanized. He needed to be cleaned up, so he could find his forever home. After a groomer stepped up to the job, Charlie was adopted two days later.

2. Aurora

Aurora and her sister both came to the shelter in horrible cosmetic shape, covered in painful mats. But, the National Mill Dog Rescue stepped in and their groomer, Ingrid, worked hard to give this pup the makeover she deserved.

3. Black Lab Mix

This black lab mix was abandoned in a mechanic’s garage. But, a kind rescuer came along to bring the dog to the vet. From there, this pup transformed immensely before finding his forever home.

4. Neglected Shih Tzus

These two shelter dogs were extremely neglected. Both of them were so covered in mats they could barely move. But, shelter staff stepped in to give them haircuts, baths, and new leases on life!

5. Joey

Joey was found on the street, frightened, and covered in dirt. He was sent to a high-kill shelter, where the chances of him getting adopted were small. But, Hollywood Grooming knew that a makeover might just increase the odds of Joey finding his new family. So, they gave him a full makeover and he was adopted just a few days later.

From forgotten and overlooked to cherished and celebrated, these five amazing shelter dog makeovers remind us that every pup deserves a second chance and the love they truly need.
