How to Prepare Chocolate Filled Sweet Buns [Vegan]

  1. Activate the yeast by sprinkling it over the warm soy milk in a big bowl.
  2. Let this rest for 10 minutes.
  3. In the meantime, mix the flour with the vanilla sugar and the salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Once the yeast is bubbly, add the granulated sugar, oil, and vanilla extract and mix it well.
  5. Gradually add the flour to the wet ingredients and mix this with a wooden spoon. Once all the flour is incorporated, place the dough on a floured surface and knead it with your hands for 5-8 minutes until it's soft and smooth.
  6. Place the dough into an oiled bowl, wrap it with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for about 60-90 minutes.
  7. Punch dough down and divide into six equal portions.
  8. Make each piece of dough into a ball.
  9. Make an indent in each ball and place 1 teaspoon of chocolate chips inside of this. Cover the chocolate with the dough and roll it into a ball again to seal. Place the rolls on a baking sheet.
  10. Cover them with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rise for another 60 minutes.
  11. Preheat the oven to 360°F.
  12. Bake buns for 12-15 minutes until they're golden brown.
  13. Let them cool down on a wire rack for 10 minutes before dusting them with icing sugar.
