BBQ Seitan [Vegan]

1/2 cup of barbecue sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian herbs
  • 1 teaspoon each garlic, onion powder
  • Your choice seitan cutlets

Preparation

  1. Mix it all together and whisk well. No need to pre-cook.
  2. When you’ve grilled one side of your cutlets or steaks, lay a tablespoon or so down on each, letting the underside cook. Don’t flip again. The sauce will cook up nicely under the grill’s hood, yielding a nice sweet and smokey tomato-based layer of perfection.
