TikTok is the place where good and bad ideas flourish, especially when it comes to the topic of vegan cheese. Many recipes for easy vegan cheese have gone viral on TikTok, but many tend to not stick around for long.
The newest trend for cashew cheese has deeply divided the app’s vegan users. This viral TikTok trend involves turning cashew nuts into cheese with just a few ingredients – not too surprising for most vegans. Some love the recipe and swear by it, while others are much less impressed.
The biggest issue that people have with this recipe is that it is expensive. Not only do you have to buy at least 1/2 a cup of pricy cashews, but you also have to own a high-powered blender. These two price points have rubbed many vegans the wrong way as they find the recipe itself to not be worth the amount of money that goes into it.
The recipe has also been accused of being bland and lacking flavor. It is supposed to imitate mozzarella, but has fallen short with most people. Thus, the vegan community on TikTok has been divided over this particular vegan trend.
