Starbucks USA will test 18 brand new menu items at several stories, including six all-vegan savory and dessert options. One of the options will be sous vide bites made with JUST Egg and Daring plant-based chicken. The limited menu will be available in three Starbucks stores in the DC Metro area.
The menu items will include, Plant-Based Chicken Sausage and Pepper Sous-Vide Bite, a Plant-Based Smoky Poblano & Black Bean Sous-Vide Bite, and a Plant-Based Chicken Sausage & Pepper Sandwich Mini.
They will also be testing three other vegan sweets, including the Golden Ginger Coconut Boba Bite, Mocha Coconut Boba Bite, and Warm Oatmeal Bite with Granola Crunch.
“Starbucks continues to transform the way we drive innovation for the future of the company,” a Starbucks spokesperson said. “One of the ways we do this is by focusing on elevating the Starbucks Experience through testing and expanding our food menu.”
Although it won’t be the first time that the coffee giant has tested JUST Egg, it will be the very first time the chain offers vegan chicken items in the United States. It’s great to see big chains like this beginning to offer vegan items.
The plant-based food market is booming, and research suggests it could make up 7.7 percent of the global protein market by 2030. With a value of $29.4 billion in 2020, experts suggest that the plant-based foods market could have a value of over $162 billion by the end of the decade.
The coffee chain plans to continue to provide plant-based options as long as the demand is there. Prices are also expected to go down if the options continue to be popular and allow the chain to stock more of them.
