The plant-based meat alternative Beyond Burger made by Beyond Meat has become a game changer and household name. The burger, along with the Impossible Burger, has blown up quite tremendously. It’s available in grocery stores, fast food chains, and restaurants. But they’re always looking to expand. Last year, they tested plant-based chicken at KFC and now they’re testing their burgers at fast food restaurants in China.
Yum China owns KFC, Pizza Hut, and Taco Bell in China. They’ve now partnered with Beyond Meat to test their burgers at locations of the fast food restaurants in China.
KFC locations in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Chengdu are testing the classic Beyond Meat burgers. As for Pizza Hut, members of the loyalty program in Shanghai will be able to try a “combo meal that includes both Beyond’s plant-based offering and another burger featuring real steak,” according to CNN. Taco Bell, true to their name and classic offerings is trying a taco that folds in a Beyond Meat patty with the classic taco ingredients.
The tests are for a limited amount of time but CEO Joey Wat says that if things go well, Yum China will look into “larger scale rollouts in the future.”
