Vegan' and 'Gluten Free' signs pointing to the food

To create their master list, they looked at each city based on merits such as the cost of groceries, shares of restaurants serving meatless options, and salad shops per capita. They also ranked the cost of groceries for vegetarians from the best to the worst and the percentage of restaurants that serve vegetarian options in those cities.

Based on the WalletHub survey, here are the top 10 best cities for vegans and vegetarians:

  1. Portland, Oregon
  2. Orlando, Florida
  3. Los Angeles, California
  4. Phoenix, Arizona
  5. Austin, Texas
  6. Seattle, Washington
  7. San Francisco, California
  8. Tampa, Florida
  9. San Diego, California
  10. Lexington-Fayette, KY

The survey also found that the lowest cost of groceries for vegetarians was unsurprisingly in Fort Wayne, IN, Kansas City, MO, Corpus Christi, TX, Oklahoma City, and Lexington-Fayette, KY.

The most expensive groceries for vegetarians were in New York, NY, Oakland, CA, Fremont, CA, San Francisco, CA, and Honolulu, HI.

In terms of restaurants serving vegetarian options, Plano, TX came in first, followed by Chandler, AZ, Scottsdale, AZ, St. Petersburg, FL, and Washington, DC. Those with the lowest percent were Stockton, CA, North Las Vegas, NV, San Bernardino, CA, Newark, NJ, and Laredo, TX.

Although the survey was based on vegetarian and vegan, it’s safe to say that veganism is spreading like wildfire across the United States! People are finally beginning to realize just how great the lifestyle is for the environment, animals, and personal well-being!

The plant-based food market is booming, and research suggests it could make up 7.7 percent of the global protein market by 2030. With a value of $29.4 billion in 2020, experts suggest that the plant-based foods market could have a value of over $162 billion by the end of the decade.
