MorningStar Farms, owned by Kellogg’s has been transitioning its products from vegetarian to vegan for a while now. They began with some of their popular chick’n products and then launched vegan chicken nuggets. Now they’ve set a deadline for when they plan to be a fully plant-based brand. Fifty percent of their products have already been transitioned and by the end of 2019, that number will be 65%. The best part, though, is that every single one of their products will be plant-based by 2021!
MorningStar Farms have been making vegetarian products for over 40 years, but many of the products unnecessarily use eggs or dairy. Mel Cash, Head of Global Marketing, Plant Based Protein at Kellogg Company says that going fully plant-based will “help us further our commitment to a greener world by helping to reduce the water waste, land usage, and carbon emissions associated with egg production.”
On top of their goal to become a completely plant-based brand, MorningStar Farms also announced the launch of a vegan ‘cheezeburger’! It features their vegan Meat Lovers quarter pound patty with an added plant-based cheddar “cheeze.” The burger has a whopping 23 grams of plant-based protein!
