According to Eater LA, New York-based chain Shake Shack will be selling their coveted new vegan burger, the Veggie Shack, at the upcoming Eat Drink Vegan food festival. The festival, which takes place in California over Memorial Day Weekend. It’s a massive celebration for plant-based living and delicious vegan brands and cuisine.
Shake Shack’s Veggie Shack burger debuted at certain New York City locations this year and customers can now order it at a handle of select locations in Austin and LA. Shake Shack first began to experiment with veggie dishes with their Shroom Burger, which is vegetarian and includes cheddar cheese. Their new vegan option comes topped with cheese (leave this off), brown rice, roasted beets, and is made out of a black bean patty. It will be available in a lettuce wrap or in a gluten-free bun!
As the years go on and veganism is more and more normalized, meat-heavy restaurants are adding vegan options to feed the intense demand for plant-based options. From White Castle to Taco Bell and Dominos, the fast food options are also becoming endless and Shake Shake is just adding to that lovely list.
The average Shake Shake pulls in sales is $100,000 every week, selling thousands, upon thousands of burgers to lines out that go out the door. Given Shake Shack’s booming popularity, offering a vegan option will be a huge impact.
