As animal lovers know too well, puppy mills are large-scale breeding facilities where dogs are kept in small cages, not properly cared for, and essentially bred over and over to meet the demands of pet shops. Inadequate nutrition, forced overbreeding, and lack of space are just some of the terrible things the dogs must endure, with many of them developing problems such as severely matted fur, skin infections, dental issues, and genetic deformities as a result.
So, as you can imagine, when dogs are rescued from puppy mills, it’s all too common that they suffer from paralysis, have a cleft palate or an overly large underbite, among other things, but that of course, doesn’t mean they aren’t deserving of love. Ask Lulu, a puppy mill survivor who endured EIGHT YEARS of abuse and neglect in a puppy mill. Thankfully, Lulu now has a loving home where she is cherished but because her tongue sticks out of her mouth, some people find it necessary to say mean things about her.
Lulu’s guardian, nettieSmasher, shared the recent heartbreaking situation on Imgur. They were carrying Lulu into a store to buy a new harness when a man laughed at Lulu and said, “What the *f-word* is that thing?” In response to the incident, Lulu’s guardian penned a touching letter on social sharing site, Imgur to the man.
Lulu’s guardian goes on to say that she is inspired by Lulu’s loving nature, despite all that she has been through at the hands of humans, “It’s amazing to me that every day she trusts me a little more; and that simply being able to finally pet her, after a year and a half, fills me with so much joy.”
Because of Lulu, her guardian has since rescued yet another dog, Cas, a senior who is missing a leg. From there, Cas introduced them to a local rescue group where nettieSmasher now fosters animals. She ended the letter by simply saying, “So thank you, somewhat rude guy, for reminding me how lucky I am. I’m sorry you didn’t get to meet Lulu. Who knows what wonderful things she might have inspired YOU to do.”
If Lulu inspires you, please always adopt and never buy. With millions of animals waiting in shelters and over 1.5 million dogs and cats being euthanized in U.S. shelters every year because they don’t have a home, adoption is always the best option. Shelters and rescue groups do have puppies and purebred dogs, so it’s not necessary to go through a breeder when there are already so many animals looking for a loving home.

People who say evil things also say the same against disabled people. They are too moronic to change.
