ProVeg International, a food advocacy group based in Berlin, Germany, is no stranger to Earth-saving initiatives. Over the past decade, the company has been joining forces with both established companies and startups in an effort to enlarge the market for healthy and sustainable plant-based food.
Now, in its latest move to popularize plant-based eating, ProVeg has announced plans to launch an exciting new incubator designed to help startups that are developing “innovative veggie products.” As ProVeg team member Sebastian Joy reportedly described the need for such an incubator and how it will assist blossoming businesses, “Many start-ups who want to respond to the growing demand for new veggie products find it difficult to successfully enter the market.”
He went on, “Often there is a lack of financial resources, economic know-how or the corresponding infrastructure. The ProVeg Incubator supports start-up companies in developing their products and in every step of the successful market entry process.”
Ever a huge proponent of innovation, ProVeg hopes to progress the latest, most inventive animal-free food concepts, such as lab-cultured meat and tuna made from tomatoes, through this new project, which will be launched in the company’s home base of Berlin. In order to do so, ProVeg’s incubator will pair startups working on meatless innovations with “mission-aligned investors” and top experts in the sustainable food movement.
Known as the unofficial vegan capital of the world, Berlin is the perfect place for ProVeg to carry out this goal. After all, the German city boasts close to 200 vegetarian restaurants and reportedly launches more than 40,000 new companies each year.
In the words of Devon Fritz, director of charity funding organization Founders Pledge Germany, “Berlin’s burgeoning startup scene is a hotbed for vegan companies looking to improve the world. An incubator to Support such startups would be hugely beneficial and ProVeg International is the ideal organization to set up and manage such a project.”
We have no doubts that ProVeg’s incubator will be a huge success, and we can’t wait to see all the planet-friendly products this project will surely help deliver to consumers!
