How a Stray Dog Found a New Home [VIDEO]

Claire Kaminski, a Texas resident, recently shared a story on TikTok that has captured the internet’s attention. On June 3, while walking her Great Dane, Willie, Kaminski encountered a stray dog in distress. The dog, clearly in poor condition and without a leash, ran straight to Kaminski and her husband, following them all the way home.

Kaminski and her husband took immediate action, offering the stray dog—later named Nelson—food and water. They posted about the lost dog on social media in hopes of locating his owner. Despite their efforts, no one came forward. Nelson was found without a microchip, collar, or tag. He was also underweight, infested with fleas, and had an old rope tied around his neck.

As fate would have it, Hurricane Beryl struck Texas shortly after Nelson’s arrival. Kaminski and her family, including Nelson, took shelter in their closet during the storm. Reflecting on the situation, Kaminski felt immensely relieved and fortunate that Nelson had found them before the hurricane hit.

After a month of fostering Nelson and searching for a new owner, Kaminski and her husband decided to adopt him permanently. Despite initial concerns about his lack of training, Nelson quickly adapted and became a beloved member of their family. Kaminski’s TikTok video detailing this serendipitous adoption has garnered over 500,000 views and 69,000 likes, highlighting the unique way Nelson came into their lives.
