Homeless Dog Who Was Starving and Couldn’t Open His Mouth Broke All His Rescuers’ Hearts – Now He’s on the Mend!

Lucas, a dog just saved by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC, came into a high-kill shelter in Georgia in awful shape. He was dirty, cut up, and clearly mistreated – he was also literally starving. Lucas had not eaten in two weeks because he was completely unable to open his mouth. Now, he is finally receiving the care he so desperately needs and starting to fight for his life.

“Just when we think we’ve seen it all, something new comes along & breaks our hearts again,” rescuers wrote. When he arrived at the rescue, he was shaking, twitching, and drooling, terrified and in pain.

Because of his condition, he was not even able to stick his tongue out, let alone eat or drink … The pup was immediately rushed to the vet. They are still unsure if his condition is caused by trauma or a neurological issue.

Lucas brought his rescuers to tears when he came into their care – but they refuse to think that his situation is hopeless. The team is now doing everything they can to help the poor dog who has clearly endured so much in his life. To save him and give him another chance, the rescue now also needs financial help.
