A beloved cat named Nicklas fell victim to a vicious attack by a dog and an unidentified man on a bike, according to Newsweek. The Rosu family of Oregon, who had cherished Nicklas as a member of their family for an impressive 17 years, are now seeking justice for their feline companion’s tragic end.

The horrifying episode unfolded when the Rosu family noticed that Nicklas had not returned indoors. Worried, they turned to their Ring camera footage to uncover the unsettling truth. The video footage they encountered was nothing short of horrifying, depicting an unleashed dog entering the Rosus’ property, closely pursued by a man in a yellow shirt riding a bike. What transpired next was an ordeal that would haunt the family forever.
As recounted by Maria Rosu, the cat’s parent, the video showed the dog menacingly attacking Nicklas, a frail 17-year-old feline. Shockingly, the man on the bike actively participated in the brutality, using his bicycle to “squish” the injured cat and even using his own feet to “stomp” on Nicklas. The grim scene culminated in the man fleeing the scene with the cat’s lifeless body.
The incident took place on August 13, when Maria and her husband Rick were getting ready for bed. The audio from the footage revealed the harrowing sounds of the cat and dog’s struggle, but what was most disturbing was the absence of any intervention or commands from the man to halt the violence.
The man’s actions were captured in a series of graphic images shared by Rick Rosu on Facebook. He chose not to share the video due to its distressing nature. In a heartfelt post, Rick described Nicklas’ long-standing role as a cherished family member who would accompany them to the mailbox and wait just inside the door on rainy days, not wanting to get his paws wet.
Maria Rosu spoke of the family’s grief and struggle to adjust to life without Nicklas, a companion they had cherished for nearly two decades. She emphasized the importance of seeking justice for Nicklas and held the belief that if the man had taken control of his dog’s actions from the outset, their beloved cat might still be alive today.
The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) is investigating the incident, considering the possibility of animal cruelty and first-degree theft charges. The community has been urged to come forward with any information related to the attack, referencing case #23-214243.
