Alert Issued in Kent After String of Cats Shaved in Disturbing Attacks

Pet owners in Kent, UK, are urged to be vigilant after a series of unusual cat attacks. Over 50 incidents of cats shaved by hair clippers have been reported to an animal welfare organization in Medway since the beginning of December. According to Animals Lost and Found founder, Natasha McPhee, the assaults were “very alarming.” “These sorts of things may seem small because the animals aren’t coming home injured,” she said. “But, as everyone knows, these things can escalate.” With many such incidents occurring quickly, pet owners must take action to protect their cats.

Attacks have been recorded in several Kent towns, including Gillingham, Cranbrook, Ashford, Ramsgate, and parts of East London. The RSPCA Chief Inspector, Patrick Hamby, has urged pet owners to report incidents of cat shaving to the charity or the police. Reporting such incidents will help the RSPCA monitor the situation and concentrate more on areas where the attacks are happening.

Although the shaved cats are not being injured, it is still a worrying situation as it puts them in shock and trauma. Shaving requires the cats to be held down by someone they don’t know, which can cause immense stress to the cats.
