Dog That Was Set on Fire in Memphis Receives Love From All Around the World

This dog in Memphis was covered in gasoline and set on fire, but people all around the world are sending gifts and love as she heals from this cruel act of abuse. Millions of people, including Paris Hilton, have been sharing Riona’s story.

A TikTok video on a page dedicated to getting justice for the pup shows Riona covered in colorful bandages. Horrible humans had covered her in gasoline, set her on fire, and she was running around the neighborhood covered in flames.

“Yet all she wants to do is kiss and love everyone!” The video says as it shows adorable clips of the bandaged-up pup loving on her veterinary staff. The video has garnered over 5.7 million views.

“It’s definitely blown up more than we expected,” said Mallory McLemore, a vet tech with Bluff City Veterinary Specialists. “We were talking to each other that if a thousand people saw it, that would be good to get the word out about what’s going on and happening to her, but within eight to 10 hours, there were hundreds of thousands of people who had seen it.”

Riona was rescued by Tails of Hope Dog Rescue and is being treated at Bluff City Veterinary Specialists. The poor pup has burned over 60 percent of her body, and she will begin getting skin grafts next week. Her bandages have to be changed every day and the staff is making sure she looks great every day. On the Fourth of July, she was wrapped up in red, white, and blue.

“We are trying to make her look pretty,” McLemore said. “I know people say she doesn’t know, but we like to see her looking cute.”

Tails of Hope is offering reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people responsible. The reward increased to $16,000 after someone donated $10,000 last week. The group is also selling t-shirts to help pay for medical expenses.
