Four puppies were rescued from near-certain death after being found abandoned in a plastic storage box on a scorching day. Their savior, following a gut instinct, discovered them near a bridge and promptly contacted Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.
The shelter, located in Asheville, North Carolina, shared the dramatic rescue story. “One of our community members found them near a bridge. We are so grateful he looked inside the plastic tote bin when he had a gut feeling something was off,” a spokesperson for the shelter said. One of the puppies, looking up from the box, seemed to plead for help. The shelter named the pups Clubs, Diamonds, Spades, and Hearts, symbolizing the fortunate turn of events that led to their rescue.
Heat exposure can be deadly for dogs, causing conditions like heatstroke, which manifests through symptoms such as heavy panting, glazed eyes, and rapid heartbeat. Thankfully, the rescued puppies have made a full recovery from severe dehydration and an upper respiratory infection. “They are doing fantastic now! They are sweet and cuddly pups who love to play,” the shelter reported.
The puppies, three males and one female, share a reddish-brown coat and are now eagerly awaiting adoption into loving homes. The Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, which found homes for 1,585 animals in 2023, including 686 dogs, continues to struggle with the high demand for foster carers to Support their mission.
