A Raleigh-based rescue organization, Perfectly Imperfect Pups (PIPs), is on a mission to save two severely malnourished 3-month-old puppies. Discovered abandoned in a backyard crate, these puppies were in dire condition when found without food or water during a heatwave. Nicole Kincaid, the founder of PIPs, described them as “two of the skinniest, emaciated pups we have ever seen.”
The litter originally included three puppies, but unfortunately, one did not survive. The remaining two, weighing only 3 to 4 pounds instead of the healthy 10 to 20 pounds for their age, are now in the care of a loving foster family. These families are ensuring the puppies are slowly gaining weight, as rapid feeding could cause additional health issues.
Kincaid emphasized the importance of gradual recovery: “When you see a puppy like this, you just want to feed them all the food and you can’t. It is important they gradually increase their meal size to avoid any additional health issues.” She praised the foster families for their excellent care and expressed hope for the puppies’ full recovery.
