Why On Earth is directed by successful filmmaker, animal activist, and conservationist Katie Cleary. Cleary is the president and founder of Peace 4 Animals, an animal welfare organization, and World Animal News, a global news network. The documentary takes a look at the current condition of humans and our practices. The film will have exclusive interviews with leaders in the animal and Conservation world, including Clint Eastwood.
The film was shot in five countries, including South Africa, Kenya, and Indonesia. It will show the brutal fight to protect the Borneo and Sumatra forests from damaging palm oil production, critical species like endangered orangutans in Indonesia, sharks who are being killed for the illegal shark fin trade, and poaching of African rhinos, elephants, and lions throughout Africa. The film will also highlight the importance and process of what it takes to pass legislation to protect animals in the United States.
“This film has been a labor of love for the past four years. We are so excited to finally share with the world this important film in order to raise awareness about the many issues that impact our planet’s critical species,” said Katie Cleary.
“There are simple things we as humans can do to prevent the devastation of our rainforests and to enact stricter penalties for poachers who kill endangered and threatened species.”
Why on Earth will be available on all major streaming and cable platforms across the US and Canada, as well as VOD, DVD, and Blu-ray on August 16.
