Stray Cat Carries Her Sick Kitten to the Hospital for Help

Like humans, animal moms want the best for their babies. They defend them, protect them, feed them, care for them, and teach them all they need to know before they are full grown. A stray cat in Istanbul recently proved just how much she cares about her kitten and did something incredible that was fortunately caught on photographs and shared online.

Twitter user Merve Özcan posted at the end of April: “Today we were in the emergency of the hospital, a cat brought her baby in her mouth to the emergency room.”

The cat can be seen in the photos looking up at the paramedics as they examine her kitten. They also comfort her. In other photos, the kitten appears to suffer from swimmer syndrome, a treatable “congenital condition that typically affects the hind legs.” But this has not been confirmed.

However, the cat and her kitten were given food and then taken to a vet for further care.

According to the Animal Rescue Site, people were confident that the cats will be okay because of how stray cats and dogs are usually treated in Istanbul, Turkey. Someone said: “In Turkey, stray cats and dogs are like everyone’s pet. You can see food and water for these friends on every corner. Cats are welcome to sleep and live in mosques etc. It’s a beautiful place for stray animals,” and another wrote: “Istanbul does an AMAZING job with the stray animals. They vaccine them and store owners let the dogs sleep inside when it’s raining. They are citizens of the city too and other places really should take notes.”

We’re just happy the clever mama knew what to do and went for help with her kitten. It’s also likely they’ve experienced the kindness toward animals mentioned above because the stray cat was very trusting of the humans.
