Pilots to the Rescue is a nonprofit that helps animals at risk by flying them to safety. Founder Michael Schneider reported his biggest trip recently, a May 20 transport with 51 cats, PEOPLE reported.
Schneider flew dozens of cats from the Carolina Cat Rescue, after flying from New Jersey to North Carolina. Volunteers helped Schneider account for and save 51 animals from North and South Carolina that needed new homes.
Schneider then flew the cats to Connecticut, where the cats were connected with multiple New England shelters. Pilots to the Rescue helps cover the costs so shelters and animal centers can use their resources to support animals.
