Henry Friedman was supposed to deliver Finn the dog to a new family across the country. But when the family’s plans changed, Henry adopted Finn himself. Now they travel across the country on adventures, according to PEOPLE.

Henry was living in a converted cargo van and was supposed to drive from New York to California to give Finn to his new home. “It was a test drive, very literally a test drive. I was already living in a van. He turned out to be a really good travel dog,” Henry Friedman told PEOPLE. “We just got really, really close.”

Shortly after, Henry launched @KeepingFinn, an Instagram account to document their travels and connect with others. Finn is now two-years-old and is a great #vanlife companion.

Henry now uses his platform to showcase rescues like Finn. The account features a different rescue each month, which helps raise awareness and funds often needed for successful rescues.

“Most people only know the rescue they got their dog from or the one around the corner from their house,” Henry says, “It allows us to make this enormous impact wherever we’re going.”

The pair raises money for rescues, hosted spay and neuter clinics, and offered free vaccinations and pet food drives in the spots they travel to. To date, Finn and Henry have helped 60 dogs find homes!
