These brave bulls were given a second chance at life when they escaped a slaughterhouse and were found running through the busy streets of Saint Louis. The terrified bulls had nowhere to go and no one to help them.

After the authorities found these boys and sent them back to the slaughterhouse, Ellie Laks, founder of The Gentle Barn desperately wanted a different outcome. Laks decided to open a Gentle Barn location in Saint Louis, Missouri, for Chico and his brothers, as she felt they had a special message to send to the world. The brothers, although distrusting and scared at first, were finally able to enjoy life in a sanctuary.
This is a very happy story for Chico and his brothers, as so many other animals meant for the slaughter are not so lucky. Their brave escape shows just how much these creatures want to live and how cruel it is to raise them just for meat.
