Working as a groomer allows you to be hands-on with animals at all times.
You could work at a pet grooming company, or you could head out on your own and have your own grooming brand. This is a very profitable profession as there are dogs that need to be groomed everywhere.
There is little chance for you to be out of work as groomers are usually booked well in advance.
The only downside to this job is that it isn’t good for those with allergies. You will be around a lot of dog hair and don’t want to be sneezing up a storm.
If you work at a groomer’s place, you will want to be sure that you do their job well. And don’t mistreat or neglect the animals there.
Veterinarian
A veterinarian or a veterinarian’s assistant is a great job that allows you to spend a lot of time with animals. If you want to work with animals, this is an ideal job that also lets you help them.
These kinds of jobs include things like pet checkups, surgery, medicating, and doing physical exams.
This is a good option if you are hands-on and don’t mind the icky stuff. Be prepared to sometimes see them in pain.
The schooling to become a veterinarian is very intense, which is why many decide to become an assistant instead.
This is a perfect fit for someone who is highly motivated to work with animals. It may take some time and a lot of work, but eventually, you will get there. The pay isn’t half bad either!
Animal Shelter Employee
Working at an animal shelter is an amazing way to work with animals. It can be sad sometimes and a bit heartbreaking, but it is definitely worth it.
There are several jobs that you might get at an animal shelter. You could be a basic employee who does small tasks like cleaning and attending to the animal’s basic necessities. Or you could handle bigger tasks like adoptions, fostering, and other activities.
The lower on the chain of command that you are, the closer you are to the animals. So you may want to stay where you are with this job to stay close to the animals.
You will want to be prepared for some heartache with this job as you are often working with homeless and abused animals. If you are working at a kill shelter, it can be much harder.
Try to do your research and volunteer before officially applying for the job. This will help you to decide if this shelter is a good fit for you.
