Woman Rescues Stray Starving Cat Who Follows Her Everywhere Meowing

orange tabby cat meowing

When @hairandhay was trying to leave her house to attend a family member’s burial, a cold, wet, and starving cat approached her and kept meowing. It was raining, and the cat was meowing so much as if he wanted to tell her something. She gave him some food and quickly headed to the cemetery. When she got back, he was still waiting for her. She decided to go in to get a cage to take him inside to her bathroom. The cat followed her everywhere she went, and she finally got him in her bathroom and gave him some more food.

She made a vet appointment and discovered that he didn’t have a chip, wasn’t fixed, and he was under one year old.

In an update video, @hairandhay said that she is a foster parent for a rescue. She followed all the necessary steps and took him to the vet, and made sure he did not have a chip. He then went on a stray hold to make sure that he did not have family that was looking for him.

When someone asked why she didn’t keep the sweet cat she said that she wished she could. She has numerous other animals in the house and said that her resident cat, Tuna, wouldn’t get along with the new cat.

“I want to keep all of the animals that I rescue obviously,” she said. “But I just don’t have the space to do it.”

She encouraged her viewers to adopt if they can and to also look into fostering if they aren’t ready to adopt.

With an estimated 7.6 million animals entering America’s shelters every year, fostering is important because it helps reduce overcrowding in shelters and opens up space for other animals to be saved. It also helps prepare animals for adoption by giving them a chance to live in a home where they can fully express their personality, work to overcome fears, or recover from trauma.

Having foster kittens around is hard work, but it is so rewarding and very fun! It is something that will keep you up at night and steal time out of your day. But, you won’t regret a second of it! As a foster parent, you will be loving, raising, and caring for the kittens so that they can grow up and find their forever homes.
